Excellent job!! I feel the same as everyone else and would love to build one up as well.
Yamaha should be building up something along the same lines (we would all want one).
The bike looks almost perfect, Gold wheels and a black strip down the tank and rear seat cover would finish it for me!!
Sorry for nit picking!!

I have to agree on the subject of gold wheels. I think that will finish her off beautifully Adrian. (though this is only a personal view, she looks stunning as she is  )

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated and worth a beer if you're ever in Sydney. :drinkers: you're included Hybrid!!

I think that I'll go gold wheels. They look good on KR's as I remember them and cause I always like gold wheels, particularly that pale Campagnolo gold colour.

Hi Adrian, fantastic effort. I really love your RZ500 it is really unique and inspiring, I say inspiring because I was just about to sell another RZ500 but I am going to keep it and take the plung and build a special, that's how much I like your bike. Can't wait to see the next bike you build, awsome job.

Wow, it's the first time I've seen this thread and I'm amazed.

Makes me what to buy a RZ500 now and do the same. It's funny how I'm getting attached to the RZ's while I'm restoring my mates bike.
Poor self image= I'm not what i think I am, I'm not what others think I am. I am what I think others think I am.

Hi Adrian
Looks amazing.
Just checking; I've got a 2CO seat and rear fairing/light etc now and am starting to fit them up like yours. Do you just take the covering off the seat and trim the front of the seat to make the profile fit the RZ tank or did you have to add material on?

Also, how did your underseat oiltank work out? Did you make it from ally plate? Do you have any pics of the finished tank?

Hi Trix,

I had to remodel the front of the seat to mate with the RZ tank. The R6 tank is curved where it meets the seat and the RZ is dead flat. I cut the plastic seat pan to suit as best as possible and an upolsterer fitted new padding with cushioning at the front to both mate with the tank and to allow fitting if the seat. The R6 seat has a tongue at the front where it locates, so in fitting the seat you push the seat down and forward into the tank to locate the tongue, so cushioning is needed. You can get the jist of it from my earlier posts. It's not perfect but suits the lines ok. Hers's what I sent the upolsterer.

You can see what I did with the oil tank from my earlier posts. Best thing is to make a base tray to fit the tank into and then just make up a foam dummy that you can shape to fit. My tank has a 2 litre capacity, I think the original has 2.2 litres.
