New project, SZR chassis or R6, or other?

#1 Post by Steveb34 » Tue Dec 11, 2018 1:05 pm

hello All
new to the forum, but I'm in the middle of an Suzuki RGV500 build (sorry for using the S word in here!), and thought what would be better than having 2 huge projects on the go, so I've just bought an RD500 motor and carbs.

My question is mainly regarding the chassis options.
the 3MA is rare, and I understand the SZR660 frame is similarly based, is the SZR something anyone here has used?
as id be looking to Run r6 rear end in it, possibly R6 front too, maybe I should just use a full rolling chassis from an R6.
What is the3 fitment like for either of these chassis, im guessing the R6 would be an easier install?

and ill be using the GP style bodywork, either the Harris 1990 bodywork or the later Motoforza bodywork.

absolutely any help and info would be greatly appreciated

ill ask any motor questions in the correct part of the forum
Cheers
Steve

Welcome aboard. The "s" word is tolerated here. There is a dedicated section to the "other" GP Replicas. I recall a dutchman named Bas that has gone the SZR route for his YZR build but can''t recall his Forum name. Here is one from said Motoforza's site you may have seen. Please post some photo's of you RGV Hybrid in the Gamma section. I for one am curious! Also an R6 based build from an Aussie member nothewoose? who also sells conversion parts.

many thanks ns86
once the RGV500 is more than a box of bits ill get some photos up.

for the RD500, im still looking for an SZR frame (my preferred method), but also looking for an R6 rolling chassis, just got to work out if an R6 would look any good with the YZR bodywork on it.......

Hi That would be a big help, as always, starting a new project is a blank canvas......
I just need to find an SZR chassis, otherwise I think I'll have to go R6.
And I'm still thinking about the 4 x 350Lc cylinders I've got in the garage...., I know stud Centers are different but nothi g a welder can't sort and re-drill, but first thing is the chassis hunt.
