The original ignition starts to back off strongly between 9 and 10 k. Using higher advance here will raise power between 9 and 11.5 k.
The original PV setting is complete crap as it's fully open much too early. Tuned setups with pipes usually react positive on starting rpm of 7 - 7.5k and fully open rpm around 10.5. Don't know exactly how Kennys pipes will react, but that should be in the ballpark.

Just one word on the Ignitech on the RD500: I had 2 bikes in my own hands that had trouble and I know of a few others with the same issues. It seems to be EMV related as the tach and spark go bunkers in the midrange.
In one case it was solved by relocating the lower HT coil from the left to the right engine side.

All Zeeltronics worked fine on the RD500.
Thanks for the info and warning Martin - I'll let the dyno guy know - I wonder if a steel shield around the Ignitech would help - perhaps some of the wiring need shielding as well ?

Cheers
Paul

My impression is more that the wiring is prone to work like an antenna to pick up disturbances and the internal filtering inside the Igni can't always cope with it.

Bringing the lower coil away from the pick-up wires helped, so the strategy should rather contain things like shielding the pick-up cable, bringing the Igni further away from the EMV polluted zone (inside fairing, under seat, ...).

Or simply buy a Zeeltronic.
Bye
Martin

Hi,

Yes - that’s my bike - they did a really nice article on it - they also did a centrefold photo of the bike. Sadly RZRD500.com didn’t get a mention- it wouldn’t have been possible to print my full “thank you” list though.

As you will see the only bad bit was a photo of me in some really badly wrinkled jeans - I didn’t know how bad they looked until I saw the photo 😄😄

Cheers
Paul

when you get your bike in a magazine whatever you wear is high fashion or something.

Haha. Sadly I dont think we get the mag here anymore or id add one for you haha. Ive asked my folks to get one in the UK for me as I want to read the article, the fashion thing I'll leave to other mags haha

Tho.... Maybe wrinkled jeans will be the new 'thing'... "wrinkled is the new black" etc

Lates dyno curve from Dave at Mutts Nuts - the Ignitech filled a lot of the power curve in as you can see above - Kenny at TSA reckons that some airbox mods will further improve matters.

Right now it’s lovely to ride and I don’t have to change gear as much or let it rev out to get to some decent power.

Cheers
Paul

A big hole near 5 000 - 5 500 !
What is the valve controller ? Original or Ignitech one ?
