1 to 4 throttle cable splitter

#1 Post by Jetjockey » Sun Aug 07, 2016 1:26 pm

Advice needed. Still working the YZR 500 Rep. I'm looking for inspiration for mounting a round splitter for the carbs...(Or any other splitter ideas)

It's the 500 in a 3MA frame project.

I don't just want the splitter just tucked in under the tank. I want it bolted and mounted so that it doesn't move.

So......you guys that have done something similar......would you be grateful to send me pics and ideas as to how you connected yours up.

I've hit a brick wall.

Thanks in advance

Dave.

Talk to Bill Wilson. He makes a round splitter that might be exactly what you're looking for. You can see it in his post here, along with his website contact info http://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/viewto ... &start=165" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you read the next page in that thread you'll see another splitter from member wolfgangh that you might find interesting.

I have one from Bill.....
That's what's driving me crazy with how to mount it.

I just don't want it sitting loose under the tank. I want something a little more "fixed in"

What about securing it to the frame rail?

Dave,

In my experience it needs to have some flex with the movement of the handlbars unless you make concession for the cable length to begin with.

I've looked at all kinds of ways of fixing it to the frame.

I'm making cables aswell bill so the flex won't really be an issue. Just wish I had a cnc machine to fabricate a bracket of some sort. This build is only gonna happen once and I want it to look the best it can.

Your splitter is great Bill.....
That's not the issue. Just how to mount it so it's not loose under the tank. As I say...it's not a standard 500 so cable routings etc are slightly different.
Lots of staring going on at the minute.

I bolted an alloy plate to the bottom of the RS250 splitter unit, and mounted it to the crossbar under the tank.

in below pic you see the threaded inserts where it mounts to:

I'm a lazy slacker and put mine under the tank without any fixture.
Works fine, but it's a race bike anyway.
