Re: Suspended versus Cradled RZ500 engine hybrid builds
Come on dudes...lets put this stupid bickering to rest here.
There are a few things that just need to be accepted here, such as strong opinions about how to (modify) things someone else has built. Since this modification has been done in several different ways by many diffrent people, either "right" or "wrong"..unless you are doing the work.. I'd suggest JUST LET IT BE as its true in some cases thst it appears to have just worked out fine for some folks & perhaps not for others, nor maybye its not up to the level of engineering as some would do it. EVERY every possible weak point has been covered and addressed in ideas above..its pretty simple really My suggestions only suggestions are:
Tidy up any negative language or opinions, even if your a "colorful" person...lol
Accept that others might be right ( to some degree) each side has some points worth considering.
Giron, I do feel you really might consider leaving Brian & Steve out of your threads..Its not 100% fair to draw them into debates unless invited..regardless of what you or they might consider the right way.
I suspect due to the name dropping he "Brian" might have possibly been lured involitarily into this debate a little deeper than he would have prefered ? Just let the guy do what he does best without outside influence. Its too easy to be drawn into this shit on the internet, as everyone including me always puts it on a little.
No point in continuing your quest,Its a stunnirn "mexican standoff" and been shown whether you agree or not that in several examples what you consider flawed has actually worked for some for better or for worse..theres no way around it is... fact, personally I'd think I'd add material as 3 of us has pointed out above...then were all good
Each is entitled to their opinions, lets all leave it at that if we can..Brian is a good talent to have available for us 2-stroke enthusiasts and he is a qualified expert as are other tuners here. Obviouslly hes on "high alert"... But thats him and how he sees it and from what Ive seen on this & the 350 forum since forever...is every tuner who ever visited this forum is equally opinionated..so its buissness as usual.
Like I mentioned to another here, " Ive no dog in this fight"
I just find it a intresting thread , & would like to see it progress eithout further drama & bad feelings.
That being said, I forgot all about 2motos work, Its been a few years now and its quite nice & I love the 2ma ish suspended motor, yes their 500s are cradled..thats how they do it, doesnt mean its the (only way though), but possibly they determined its their best option for their (custom) built frame.
Hope to read ONLY good from all of you, if it falls back into a shitstorm that would be unfortunate and detrimental to the spirit of this forum.
Can take these panties off now & get off this soapbox..i feel kinda silly.

Nice! Now that's what I'm talking about.
LOL - and yes, that is taking all debate about whether using brackets dropped from a twin spar frame are adding stress to the engine to another level and beyond!
I love it.... you want stressed member, I'll show you stressed member LOL hehehe

Now that's a unique approach. At first I thought the lower shock mount was to the heads also, but it looks like there are frame extensions behind the rad. I think this post has seen its share of stressed members already.

Re: Suspended versus Cradled RZ500 engine hybrid builds
If this can be discussed in a civil manner so we can all learn something, I am curious why the engine failed or at least what symptom lead to it being dismantled for inspection. This forum is titled 'RD-RZ-RZV 500cc Two-Stroke Technical Forums', name calling, mud slinging and resume waving do not constitute technical answers. Nice pictures by the way.
Re: Suspended versus Cradled RZ500 engine hybrid builds
I was asked to post the pictures. The gentleman that took the pictures and drew the diagram asked me to posted them. He is rebuilding the motor now. I have seen the motor first hand. I will step forward that I recognize scar cylinders and reed cages that were wrong for the motor. A very interesting comment made on the RZ500 motor having an oil pump and the motor not level on the 3XV frame. The gentleman asked me to pick the rear of the engine and tilt it forward like on the 3XV frame. He said what goes on the right side of the engine? The clutch basket. Then if the engine is not level what happens with the oil level and the clutch basket. I always thought it was a safety feature on the 3XV frame, but also the front cylinders and pipes close to the front wheel.
I will ask permission for the gentleman rebuilding the engine and the owner of the bike in question if I can post pictures after its done. I don't want to say more, but rather post pictures. After all a picture is worth a thousand words.
