Re: Costin - NSR500 1994 Doohan bike
Awesome project!
As for the 2-1 carbs? Here in the states Ive seen dozens & dozens of 2-1 Trinity carb conversions on Banshees.
All worked reasonably well, as usual some jetted great, others not so much...lol. Some guys claim less topend but more lowend grunt ? Most were running a airstriker 35mm carb.
With dual top shelf magnesium 41s topend performance might just be no problem. Only one way to find out, do what no one else has tried! You certainlly know how to tune a 2-stroke just as good as anyone..wishing you & your customer the best of luck and the biggest of smiles!

Thanks for posting those pages up Steve, I never saw the 2nd issue....it's great how Stan rights about what he does and how he does it.
I think every 2 stroke fans dream bike would have been a Honda V4 road bike or a Yamaha 3ma version of their V4. Maybe a project for the future.
And I totally agree with Questo Vecchio, only way to find out is to give it a go!
Cheers
Mick

beautiful frame Mick !
You're right about small differences in engine mounts, but the look is wery similar and evocative.
can't wait to see the bike assembled.

Ok, so there is a lot involved in fitting the 350 cylinders. Not something to consider unless absolutely necessary.
Although I do have a spare set of crankcases

Swingarm....
Nice and pretty before heat treatment.

Re: Costin - NSR500 1994 Doohan bike
rear-sets, shock adjuster nut and some axle nuts... the NSR500 Honda rear-sets were never overly complicated, especially compared to the YZR's of the mid to late 90's

Very few coils on the rear spring.
Titanium spring?

Hey smoker,
Standard RS250 shock and spring...no doubt the spring will be too soft and Ill be swapping it out later once its all finished.. I have a pic of a NSR500 shock Ill dig out and post. From memory it had large spacing on the coils as well....
Cheers

Here is a pic on an 1996-98 NSR500 shock. The RS250 shock is very different but still looks similar, so she'll do..
Here is frame and swingarm in early mockup....
in early roller form....ducati showa forks, HRC front wheel with racing discs, brembo goldline calipers, and CBR900 rear wheel

Hello Mick,
what firing order is this engine running - are opposed cylinders at TDC at the same time, or 180° apart as for stock engines? I think this would make the carb configuration work better if both cylinders fed by the same carb are in phase.

but you have to consider that enghie has 4 reed valve, so every cylinders could work with their own phases
