That's also how I had to untighten them.
Are they supposed to be H screws ? There is no room for a socket, CHC would be easier to access.
Ok, I've just seen in the microfiche that they should be CHC, not hexagonal heads.
They used the wrong heads last time, they couldn't tighten them cause no room for a socket, so they used a hammer ... .

Kalim wrote: All bearings were installed with a lot of "green resin", some kind of Loctite ? I found it on all bearings journals.
Green Loctite is bearing retainer. It is used to stop the bearing race from rotating in the journal. It is typically used for bearings that do not have knock pins to hold the bearing in place. I use it when required.

Which bolts are you talking about? #17 and #18 on which page of the parts list?

Thanks for the confirmation of the Loctite.
By the way all my bearings have the lock pin. Maybe they though it was safer.
Does it also have the role of filling clearance around the bearing ?

Sorry, I'm not clear about the #17 and #18 bolts.
Each of the 18 crank case bolts location has an id number molded onto the top crankcase, from 1 to 18.
I've assumed it was for the tightening order for assembly and disassembly.
So I wrote about the one that have the 17 and 18 numbers, molded on the top cranks. At the front end of the lower cylinders.

Bolt 15 should be a CHC bolt.
Not really easy to open because they are quite soft.
At least I had to open one with a Torx on my spare engine (original engine lower end is not opened up to now).

As far as I remember they are quite flat, standard bolts are maybe too high.
I can check it at home if you need the dimensions, they should be on the shelve next to the entrance door of my garage

Sounds much more coherent looking at the space around the head.

I am now waiting for the cranks and cylinders to come back from UK.
PJME is taking care of them.

So in parallel I'm moving forward on the rest of the bike. That was a good week-end working on the project !

Sorted out all the bits and things in steel that will need new surface treatment.
Everything is in a bucket now.

I couldn't remember what is the part in the bottom left corner ?
Same for the part on the right side, in the middle.

Anybody thinks I missed some ?

So I had to disassemble the pair of carbs, and I took this opportunity to take a look inside... not nice !

Green sticky paste everywhere. I'll have to do a strong cleaning in perspective.

And there was a completely seized screw on a carb bracket. I constraint it too much until carb body breakage.
I will repair with bi-compound glue. I've done that already on another bike with good success.
This part is not under pressure nor depressure, should be okay.

And the YPVS box was unsealed.
Two resistors have started to oxyde.

3-4 years ago I remember the YPVS servo was working, so I assume the control unit was OK too.
Well, if the YPVS servo doesn't work when the rebuilt is done, I'll know where it comes from  .

At worst, Zeeltronics make aftermarket ones I think.

Interesting pics mate, keep posting them.

Bugger on the carb breaking like that but sounds like you have it under control.

That PV Controller PCB has the same p/n as the 1985 RZ350 controller.

The PCB's have the same numbers but the "coding" to control the PV actuation rpm is different.
Check my manual on how to optimize it once you already have the soldering iron out.
http://l3s9113.zeus09.de/RD350/Manual_P ... cation.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Other than that I anyway recommend a programmable ignition/PV unit. In case of the RD500 the Zeeltronic seems the better choice (had several issues with Ignitechs here).

The bracket bottom left is the two stroke oil pump cable bracket

The bracket on the middle right is the chain guard bracket

I can't see your front fuel tank bracket, battery box bracket, two stroke oil pump bleed hose bracket, rear indicator bracket,
rear mudguard reinforcement bracket or rear brake hose guide bracket. These parts but may not be needed as the bike is not standard.

Are you also missing a rear belly pan bracket?

Don't forget to take the spacers off the four carb clamps if your in the mood.

Thank you Steve !

Haha !?
Fuel tank and battery box bracket, I must have them somewhere ! Will look deeper in the garage !
Indicator, mudguard, hose guide I probably didn't have them with the bike.
The belly pan is in very bad state so I'm probably missing one of the brackets.

Thanks a lot for the list !

I don't get what you mean :smt017
