TZR500 Race bike

#1 Post by Helmers58 » Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:26 pm

Hi Guys!

Just wanted to share some pictures from my last two stroke race bike project. Engine is RD500, modified to take Yamaha TZ 4DP cylinders, and also the inlet is heavily modified to take Dellorto carbs.

Nice build. I always wanted YZR500 style case reed and carb's inline. I am glad you figured out how to do it. How exactly does the top plate fit to the cases? Is it JB welded in? Hoe many CC's is the engine?

This is f***** incredible! I am working on my race engine for years and follow all similar builds in the world, and then you just come out of the dark with this truly very clean and efficient engine setup.
Any ideas of the HP output?

How can I get a login which allows me to save the pics on my harddisk?

Merry Christmas, I am sure you have up there in winterly Norway

the crankcase mod from Ralf Kras is easy to do , certainly when u go out of the dimentions from the Original case ,here about 10mm becoz the baseplate needed for the TZ 4DP barrels , these barrels are lesser in height the the RZ/RD stockers .

the only problem is to get the rare TZ barrels

but anyway ,perfect build , and also perfect modified RS frame

Hi guys! Thanks for all the positive feedback. Seems like I have done something correct :)

Base plate is app. 11.5mm to get a proper squish, however the stroke is std. It has a tz bolt pattern for the rear pins and rd for the front. The cylinder front bolt holes had to be machined slightly. No Jb weld or welding of the engine case. I will post all pics from the build in another link to study.

The reed housing and the carb manifold is the actually development for this engine, which came out pretty nice, yzr style! Rs/rgv reeds.

I'm also very happy with the internally machined cooling lines, which exits through the reed housing.

Carbs are Dellorto Vhsb 38, since they where quit narrow. The carbs are machined, or actually filed, to get 64mm spacing. Internal fuel connections and adapters to connect together. (I need help with the set-up of jets, if anyone has some info)

Exhaust is modified std TZ pipes, ignition is Ignitech and flywheel, alternator and instruments are Honda RS125.

Henrick,

You've come along way since we last spoke. Looks fantastic to say the least. Can't wait to hear and see some video of it running and riding.

Have a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.
