Interesting to Note: These exhausts do not seem to have the restrictors fitted to the header pipe.
Re: Alloy Frame, Project 51X
Just looking thru your pictures, i noticed your swingarm pivot nut was missing, i hope you took it off? Seemed early to do so. Also just thought i would note that the RZV bikes, had only 51X stamped on the engine without the rest of the serial number.
And your bike has only one 2 stroke oil resevoir where RD/RZ500s have 2.(normal for RZV)
Looks very original and untampered. Must be RZ/RD open exhaust. What does the sticker say on the CDI box on the RH side of the bike? Are you rebuilding the engine or just inspecting for now?

Re: Alloy Frame, Project 51X
The 51x only has the one, mines the same, and its listed in the 51x parts microfiche, page 35. I wonder why?

I was just checking how much trouble I was going to have removing the swing arm bolt. The bike has a bit of corrosion over it from sitting, the bold started to move after some persuasion.

Re: Alloy Frame, Project 51X
I got all of my bolts re Zinc plated, so I decided to throw in the rear sub frame as the silver paint was coming off and it was going rusty. I think its a bit bright at the moment but it will dull with age and besides its covered by the seat.
I finished overhauling the forks, cleaned them up and thew a couple of new seals into them. I will replace the oil and re- assemble. Anyone know the oil quantities for each leg?

Re: Alloy Frame, Project 51X
Don't forget the RZV has different forks to the RD and RZ. Heres a copy of the page from the RZV manual. It recommends 296cc of oil. I also use 10w oil instead of the 5w which I find better.

Re-zinced all my fittings, in my opinion it makes the bike look half reasonable.
