It has been slow going as parts are really beginning to dry up on the ground now.

Finally managed to source a an mid 1980's race bike YZR clutch lever. It is from a 250, but as close as I am going to get for now.

Well, for the OW81 project I lost the bid for YZR500 engine. My final offer was $28,000 but the seller accepted an offer of $35,000.

When I lost that I was a little dejected about the progress of this project - that was probably the last and only chance to get a pre-1988 engine in zero mile condition. That was a complete pre-season test and prototype engine. Including carbs and electronics.

Then recently I made contact with a custom fabricator in Japan that shares my passion for the OW76 through OW81 bikes and I think the outcome will be a very replication of the OW81 frame and swing arm. This gent has the ability to perform magic with aluminium.

This of course leaves the little issue of an engine. For that I am not to sure. The good news is that the gent that outbid me for the prototype motor is busy having replica cases made in aluminum so I might still have a way to get a close replica YZR500 engine.

I saw this - Johnny sent me a link to your build on your forum.

I guess now that we meet I must ask, any chance I can buy one of your engines for my build?

Thanks

Paul

For the moment it is not planed to build other engines. We need to build our 4 engines, even if we will have all the tools to built them, we will see later for other one.
It is a very big amont of work to build one.

Just so happens circumstances have forced me to change careers so to speak. I have jumped right into modding bikes full time.
Rented space in a work shop and partnered up with an existing enterprise.
This will give me more time to work on my projects, have access to full time dyno and tuning facilities --- but means I will probably need to sell them as I complete them to make a living LOL :grin2:

Will tackle refreshing my NS400 while I complete my other works in progress.

Thanks for the kind words, I am looking forward to some creative RZ350 engined bikes - my business partner works magic on the Banshee and is excited about creating engines for the rolling chassis I plan on creating.

Good luck with the new endeavour. When what you do for work is actually your passion you know you are on the road to success. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do.

17 days later and I am almost done with the 1st CBR1000RR SP2 build, the EWC style Superstock bike. Will be one of the shop showpieces and not for sale, although everything does have a price LOL

I am so itching to get the YZR500 reps moved over to the shop - it is so much easier workign on a bike with space and tools and time :)
