Hi Jack,

I'm enjoying seeing your progress on this project - the original bike looks fantastic with the original bodywork - I was thinking that and your 2CO R6 mods would look fantastic together. However judging by the standard of your work I'm sure you will make the R1 bodywork look good as well.

I see that you've gone for black wheels, swingarm and frame now. Can I ask what kind of finish you had originally on the wheels and swingarm - they look really nice with an aluminium finish - were they just natural aluminium or did you coat them with something ? I'm hoping to have an aluminium finish on my swingarm but I'm struggling to find a solution. I'm told re-anodising is almost impossible, lacquer won't adhere properly, ceramic coat will polish up further when I try to clean it etc, etc. - silver paint or powdercoat doesn't always look quite right. - Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Cheers
Paul

There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in, but the holes are small, thats why the rain is thin

Hi Paul
When i was looking for swingarm, wheels etc came across this lot for sale on ebay, mirror pollished ally looked stunning, someone had gone to alot of time and trouble to get that finish!
Problem though was how to keep them that clean and the thought of spending hours getting them super shinny put me off so powdercoat it was, also think that being black will make the fairing ,tank, panels stand out even more!

Hi andy
The rearsets are just standard r6 2co model ones
had brackets welded on to make them fit!

Hi all sorry i,ve kinda left you all in limbo regarding my rebuild but been so busy don,t really sit down with the computer too much!
Anyhow the bike is just about finished couple of bits to do mainly gearing is way out, runs out of gears at around 90 mph so orderd smaller rear sprocket see how we go! When i first started the bike up would only tick over then die when more throttle applyed so new pjs were sorted (thanks for the advice dubsey) i now have 45 pjs and it runs sweet!
Flew though the mot guy was more intrested in talking about the bike than making sure it was all ok (which it is anyway).
Not got round to taking great photos yet but here are a few taken last week in the isle of man.

cool pics me and the 500 will get there one day
I had the same trouble with gearing, go to mick abbey's site, on there you'll find the gearing commander, it really is quite useful, someone from here put me on to it
Glad the 45 idle jets worked out, they really are nice carbs to work with
