Repair cracked tail section

#1 Post by Drew » Sat Mar 24, 2018 7:57 pm

Hi,
I have been repairing/restoring my factory fairings over the winter and I have tried using ABS paist with acetone on my tail section and it wont bond. It is broken in one of the small slats where the top pipe exits. Anyone have any advice what I can bond it with? Cheers

Hi, I don't know what is the best material to use to bond it but I don't think that particular part of the fairings is ABS?

It isn't ABS.

Epoxy is the best option if you don't have the correct material to use as filler when welding or using an acetone based paste.

I used this on my bellypan over the Winter and it worked a treat.

in trade we use 3M™ Panel Bonding Adhesive for fixing plastics like the 500 farings

3m do one for plastic repair but its not as good as the panel bond

on my 350 ive welded where i can and panel bond everywhere else , works very well , you will be hard pressed to find a better product
