Reflections...

Hi all:

Subject title was my poor effort at being clever. I actually have a mystery regarding reflectors.

I have an RD500LC that was intended for the Austrian market. As such, the rear side panels have one small metal bracket attached near the rear and on the lip (underside) of each side panel. Looks like intended to allow mounting of a small reflector. I am guessing if there were reflectors they would be identical to the small rectangular red reflector mounted to the bottom of the rear mudguard. Attached some pics to hopefully make it clear as to what I am after. Earlier I had attached yellow reflectors because that is what I had, but know they cannot be correct as the rears are always red. I have scoured the Yamaha parts lists, found the addendum for the Austrian market, and the brackets are shown, but no reflectors are shown so it has been quite the mystery to me! Why Yamaha would attach the brackets and not the reflectors is beyond me. Just going for 100% authenticity with the bike as it is so totally stock.

Can anybody please provide some guidance? Thanks!

They should be yellow reflectors, same as the fronts.

The parts list shows the quantity as four yellow reflectors.......................

Hi Steve:

Holy smokes, that is a lightening fast response to my question. Thank you.

Well, you are an observant sort to notice the quantity in the schematic and now I see that yellow reflectors in the rear must be correct. I can leave the reflectors I mounted intact after all. Amazing because normally it takes me more than one try to get something right. What threw me is that in the parts schematic, the 4 reflectors are labeled as "front" reflectors, but as you say since the quantity is four, this has to mean front and rear. Also confusing to me is the fact that in the states, rear reflectors are always red-never seen yellow ones used for rears.

Once again, thank you for your quick and helpful response. Have a great day!
