Have a look at these ones - They are leather instead of vinyl

Thanks Ade,
That would be nice for a custom RD500 but I'm after something as near original as possible.

Re: After Market Seat Cover
I've found the best way to get a factory look is to bring it to a professional shop. They have the material and tools and it's well worth the money if final appearance is important.

This is a good point - I'll ask around who might be good in the UKsilverstrom wrote:I've found the best way to get a factory look is to bring it to a professional shop. They have the material and tools and it's well worth the money if final appearance is important.

I'm at that point in life where I've finally realized that paying someone qualified to do the job once is better than me screwing it up twice. I suck at upholstery.

Re: After Market Seat Cover
Hi even professionals can stuff things up had a nos seat cover fitted on my build, over 12 months later fitting the seat noticed they used to longer staples ended up going after market.
my complaint.

Re: After Market Seat Cover
Anybody found a good way of recovering the small backrest thingy? Mines in OK condition but the thin vinyl skin skin is breaking up.
I have seen a few attempts with stitched covers, but I was hoping for seam free to keep the original look.

Re: After Market Seat Cover
Neat system and it looks good for a couple of small marks on the bikes seat cover that's in otherwise good condition.
But I think the surface of the back rest is way too far gone to be saved. There would be more filler than original surface

Re: After Market Seat Cover
Hi,
I got the seat cover - nice fast service from the supplier.
The pattern of the vinyl isn't 100% accurate when I compare it with my 47X - however I would imagine this pattern might have changed slightly during production so I think the pattern is close enough ? - I'd say it is 90% accurate - it's a better match than the vinyl cover supplied by Wemoto - although the Wemoto cover is still good quality.
Hope the above is of help.
Cheers

Re: After Market Seat Cover
Luckily I don't suck at upholstery
My VTR1000 was hurting my ass after some 100 km or so and I reshaped the seat surface, put in a gel insert and did a goat-leather finish that is so soft that it can compete against my daughters back side
After that the record for a day tour is now 440 km
Here's the build thread:
http://www.vtr1000.de/forum/showthread.php?t=78532" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Only thing I'd change next time: The leather I used was really really soft, but the black color was prone to UV radiation which bleaches the surface. Now I need to treat it with shoe polish every few months to get it slick black again.
My 0.02$: Why buy a "OEM" replica, when every craftsman around town can do that for 100-200 Eur completely (incl. new foam AND cover in user specific color/material)
Check out the links in my thread, there's a myriad of suppliers.

Re: After Market Seat Cover
For the backrest , you can stretch vinyl a lot by heating it with a heat gun .
