Silverstorm, apparently a tumbler(-s) had a dirt issue: My neighbour (who is a lock specialist) had a lot of issues with door locks, just because of a little dirt, in the lock and even on the key: had a BMW 1200 GS and after cleaning the key it worked great again.
Even a straw will do the trick, WD40 in, let it for a while, straw in the key opening and blow by compressed air and if you don't have, just your lungs.

After i had the fuel cap off, it worked like a charme again!
