Stone guard doesn't fit

#1 Post by 2002tiil » Thu Jun 18, 2015 3:34 pm

Hi,

Tried to fit the stone guard in the belly pan, but it won't fit: The clamps holds nothing but "air" and not the pan. i Tried to get him lower, but didn't succeed.
What do i wrong and how can i fix the prob?

Thanks,

Richard

Richard - I had similar results even with a brand new guard, mounting bar, and pan. It's a tight fit to get the guard fully down so the bar & tabs grab pan. Some "adjustment" of the metal parts was required. Even then I used a piece of safety wire as a tether since I've heard they have a habit of coming loose. Oh, and the rubber inserts don't stay put very well either...
Good luck,
Tom

Don`t forget the 2 rubber pieces 47X-28345-00.
But i never mounted mine - so i don`t know the situation...

Just for your information - seems that i got the last rubber piece from Yamaha.
I need a second one :smt013

I had exactly the same issues with mine, the only solution i could get to is adjust the brackets on the barrels holding the fairing very slightly 2-3mm to narrow the gap in the V, I also made some rubbers by cutting some neoprene tube, mine now fits and looks right.

In my experience they need 1-2 months (or one order) to show the correct status of the parts.
Was the same with the headlight rubber, shown as available but when i ordered it - not available :smt019

Maybe its worth a try - but 19€ shipping for a 1€ part :smt013

I'm lucky, i live in the Netherlands :smt006

Better if it takes long and strong on the money then not available (for me: 6 days, shipping price is okay)
But it's simple to make your own if you'd like to.

BTW: If they have the same articles as the dealers, so please order them at you dealer: I really don't understand why someone would order there in the first place (but 100 % sure they have items the dealer no longer has).

That's not necessarily true Steve. I've bought many parts from CMS that have been NLA from Yamaha. I search Yamaha world wide before going to CMS. They were also very helpful with NLA parts when restoring my NS400R, as was David Silver Spares. I have a standing want list for many NLA parts and CMS does contact me when the parts become available. They buy parts from many sources such as closing dealerships, private sellers, etc.

I email and ask CMS if they actually have the part before buying it. I have bought parts that showed as available only to find out days later that the part wasn't available. They usually get back to me in a day or 2. I appreciate that it can be frustrating, but as a last resort for hard to find parts it is always worth the effort.

To be informed: Speedfreak and me are lucky to have the moles from them.
We bought the last ones they had, lasted one week for me, to Austria 4 days longer :smt001
