Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
Looks like I will just wait until I fit this stuff up and see how it works out. I should be able to reduce the width without too much issue.
By the way, I like the look of your garage... multiple bikes is always a good thing! Hopefully I can kick this project into high gear soon. I picked up the modified RZV chassis from Wyn last week and Im mounting the rear suspension tonight. Will be at GMD later this week for mearsurements. Bill Wilson should be completed with the motor rebuild & mods soon (phase-3).

totally agreewolfgangh wrote:Where did you get yours from? I have a friend who has my fairings on his 1999 Checa Marlboro replica with stock frame and swingarm, and it is wide enough. It would certainly not require the front to be widened, there is plenty of room around pipes, waterpump etc. if you mount the fairing with 120 mm ground clearance ( measured at the front)
Regards
in my replica (with Wolfagng fairing) I had only to create a sort of small bubble for water pump
engine, and pipes has enough space

Hi any news on the fitment on the fairings, i was thinking of buying a fairing set from Jim Lomas, are you using the standard rd/rz frame.
If your on the edge your taking up to much space
Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
Its going to be a while before I can check fitment. I should be getting my motor back from WP in a couple weeks... once I get that in and chambers in place I will start on bodywork. I am using an RZV frame that has been modified in the sub-frame area, but basically stock.
Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
I have found a very similar if not identical lower YZR fairing on my shelf. I bought that from Mick Costin long ago, before I got on my hands on the genuine set of 1999 fairings. If I remember correct, it was part of a 1996 YZR500 fairing set, the side panels were definitely different from my 1999 fairings (no extrusion for the air intake nozzles in the front).
I will offer this for sale in the sale section.

Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
I just noticed that is the exact same 1997 lower fairings that Chris (tlrgsxr) is offering in the SALE section!

This exactly what it have.
Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
I am sharing with you pictures of one of my friends RD500 / YZR500 replica, using my 1991 fairings - identical to those on my ANTENA 3 bike. This MARLBORO bike is based on stock RD500 steel frame, only modified in the back to match the seatunit contour, but the the front and lower cradle rails are stock. Only changes are removed elephant ears, replaced with foam filter elements, and relocation of the coolant and oiltank as well as the CDI and PV controller.
This left enough space for my "pointy" lower fairings, which are only widened at the rear but look genuine at the front.
So this prooves it can be done without widening the bottom like on Costin´s fairings

Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
That looks awesome! After everything I have invested in the chassis and engine... not to mention what the custom paint will cost, I just does not make sense to compromise on the bodywork. Question for you... where do I find it?
Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
Both bikes look beautiful !!
PS:- I don't think you mean 1991 for the fairings ? - Late 1990's ?
Cheers

Re: 1998-2002 YZR500 Bodywork
Yes, beautiful bikes indeed
A bit of a thread jack if you don't mind.
What is that rear master cylinder in the photo below?
I was looking for one like that. I see it has a pressure switch. Is there a remote brake fluid reservoir?
Do you have any close-up photos of the brake hose connection/master cylinder area?
Thank you!

Hi, this is a BREMBO master cylinder from a DUCATI. The pressure switch is aftermarket and can be used with any master cylinder, replacing the banjo bolt. In this case there is no reservoir used, only the volume of the hose carries the fluid.
