Quickshift

#1 Post by Ron57 » Tue Nov 27, 2018 9:25 pm

Hi, has any one tried a quickshift on there RZ500. I've tried a Zeeltronic without to much success.
Feels like there is to much play in the linkages. Would changing to a race pattern be better.
Cheers Ron.

Ron,

Try bypassing the need for a linkage by attaching a lever directly to the shift rod.

You get GP reverse shift and direct feel. I could not go back to a sloppy linkage.

I use one on my RZ350 and VTR1000F.
Both have similar linkage as the RD500, but I replaced the stock ball joints with industrial quality without that excessive play.

I wouldn't like a bike without it any more.

Yep, direct to the source with no fiddly know-it-all middle managers to re-interpret the shift instructions. LOL

Hi,

What quick shifters are recommended please ? I’ll be using a Zeeltronic CDI and YPVS Controller.

How tough will a quick shifter be on the gearbox ?

Thanks.

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul, I'm using the pull Zeeltronic Shifter the problem I was having is too much play in the linkage.
With the Zeeltronic you can adjust the cut out time. I'm going to try the race pattern with the push shifter
when I get these linkages sorted out. Paul's idea is great but I think I'll need rear sets for it to work.
Cheers Ron.

Or a really long shifter.
