500 Two-Stroke Tech

I'm in the process of building a new loom. My original loom has been butchered on a few occasions (adding an alarm etc) Just wondering if the connections shown below are from the factory (I assume they are). Its where the live and earth splits into 3 when going to the instruments. There must be a better way of doing this?

I doubt this factory with all my years working at Yamaha motor never seen that. Factory would used bullet type connectors.

Maybe...But I doubt very much that is factory here is what factory usually used...

The twisted and soldered wire split-outs are typical factory. Obviously hidden when the loom is taped up and finished.
Corrosion can be an issue at these joins.

Sorry misread your post those type of soldering inside the loom are factory but not outside the loom.

Yes, that is factory. Apparently keeping it simple works best. Twist, twist, twist and solder. 30+ years and still secure and working well.

When I'm replicating this part I think I might use bullets rather than solder. I read recently (in CMM) that automotive joints in a loom shouldn't be soldered as they are brittle and can crack. Although taking on board silvertsrom's point, they've lasted 30 years with no probs! I think its easier to make a good crimp joint than a good solder joint. I've seen double bullet sockets but I've never seen a triple bullet socket. Thanks for this Frenchship. Although the earth wire in my picture above splits into 4. Any other ideas on how to do this? I was also thinking maybe a few tube type crimp joints. That might look neater when wrapped in loom tape.
