Is the stock ignition timing setup adjustable? Mine is just outside the range defined in the manual. Having looked at it quickly, the manual doesnt state how to adjust it back with the right range and the pick up looks like it's position isn't adjustable?
Thanks as always

Re: Ignition timing
As far as I know, the simple answer is no, it is not adjustable.
You can fit a stepped key for the flywheel, or slot the pick-up holes, but you shouldn't have to. Are you sure you are measuring it correctly? How far out of the specified range are you?

Re: Ignition timing
Using a timing light, engine at 1250rpm. Mark on flywheel just about visible in window. As in it's right on the edge.
I read the manual, (not that clear) as being it needs to be within + / - 25% of the dia of the inspection window from centre

Re: Ignition timing
Hi, this is out of the service manual, if you find that your timming is advavced have a look to see if
someone has done the TSI mod on the stator back plate
Cheers

Re: Ignition timing
You can slot the back cover as the TSI says. I did it. But how the timing looks through the inspection hole will always be the same because you're moving the hole the same amount as the pick up if you adjust the cover. The same for an offset key. The only way to see a change through the hole would be to move the pick up in the cover.
