Tach doesnt work

#1 Post by GRA400C » Tue Jan 17, 2017 3:23 am

As the title says tach doesn't do a thing. Battery is new. Any way I can check the tach itself? I did just instal a zeel but the tach did not work on the stock ignition. Are there any specific connections to look at?

Temp gauge oil gauge and neutral light work.

Any advise or place to start would be great!

If it's been sitting for a long time sometimes they freeze up. If so give it a decent ride and it may free itself. Good Luck.

I have a YPVS tester around that can test the tach, too.
Basically any function generator does that creates an about 200V rectanglular signal.

I have an older Zeel and used one of the coil feeds to power tach. I think the orange colored one.
