Rev Counter & Oil Light

#1 Post by bogey » Sat Sep 03, 2016 9:40 am

Hi,
I am just competing the rebuild of my bike.
Have most everything just the bodywork to go on. I started it up on an auxiliary fuel tank to check things over and delighted as all sounds good. However noticed to things when I ran the bike.
Firstly the Rev counter is not giving any reading at all. Think all wires are connected and there's a new battery in the bike. Anyone any ideas on what most likely problem is with this.
Second problem is the red oil light comes on when the ignition is turned on and then slowlly goes out. The oil level in the tank was very low do I was thinking it should be staying on. Anyone any ideas or thoughts on this.?
Thanks in advance for any comments or help.
Regards
Brian

Just try to pull out the oil level sensor.
If the light comes on the sensor is ok.

If the tank is full the light is off all the time, when the tank is half full the light comes on when switching on the ignition.
With empty tank the light is on all the time.

This is how my RD350 works... I guess it`s the same sensor.
My bikes:
RD500 YPVS 1GE
RD350 YPVS 31K 1985
Honda CBR 1000 RR SC57
Yamaha R1 RN04
