YPVS OEM Box Upgrades....

#1 Post by WVWRZ500N » Mon Aug 19, 2013 6:44 pm

Hello.

Anyone try this guy's modification? Seems a pretty cheap alternative to the full VCDI unit from Zeel.

Bill,

Very good, that is what I was hoping to hear.

I've got a few YPVS controllers so I'll be getting one done.

Bill, please also report back when you have a modified box in hand. I've also seen this and wondered.... should I or not. And just like you, I'm a bit suspect when it comes to modifications like this.
Looking forward to hearing back on this.
Thanks

Bill, I plan on doing this mod also for my hybrid build. I can say that his service is excellent as I have had 2 PGM2 nsr250 units repaired {RC Valve circuit failure and derestriction}. He is very active on NSR250 forum: He knows his stuff !

Many thanks for the kind words.

The YPVS modification can't replace a fully programmable CDI unit but it's a handy modification for bikes with stock electrics.

I had a non working YPVS controller on my bike when I bought it, had to borrow units to test run the bike when I got it home.
I still had the non functional unit laying around, so when I saw Nick's mod service and the possible ability to repair it I sent it off to him two weeks ago. He was able to sort out the problem and install the dip switches to adjust the mapping, all with a very quick turn around & felt the pricing was very reasonable. Great guy to deal with and looks like it will get me running again.

Nick has done RZ350 YPVS controllers for me. Fast turn around and reasonably priced. As noted, great guy to do business with. He includes a list of switch positions and corresponding valve open/close rpms. Very slick and very simple. Will be sending him a 500 controller shortly.

Here's the manual on how you do it on your own.
http://rd350lc.de/index.php/downloads.h ... cation.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My own findings: Stock RD500 benefit from TZR 2MA setting, engines with high-revving pipes need 7.500-10.250.
