Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
Hello Fellow RZ00 Crazy Types!
More work with my recovering buddy and his RZ500 restomod. Please forgive my lack of knowledge and the fact that my buddies memory is in recovery. (Stroke). I have looked through invoices etc
We have a 2006/2007 YZF R6R rear swing arm cleverly converted to fit the RZ500. Its pretty cool.. but perhaps is adding more complication to what is a complicated bike to begin with. I have yet to figure out who did the modification. But I imagine it was done in the U.S. seeing as we are in Canada.
The bike also has an RZV aluminum frame but from my understanding this keeps the majority of the RZ500 dimensions.
With the swing arm and R6 wheel I estimate the rear sprocket carrier moves outward from the stock location and that the front sprocket must adapt to meet this modification.
With the parts we have found here we are not sure what has to be done. There is a matching “Suncor?” front and rear aluminum sprocket. But there is not enough drive axle to get the factory lock washer to bite on the spline and not enough thread to bolt the factory sprocket nut up.
Can someone please provide reference? The webs does not seem to provide a definitive how to guide.
I know I'm missing a bit of info I will try to add more details.
Thank you,
Tony

Re: Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
I have a sprocket and will measure this evening if I have time. I milled one side to get it to the same thickness as the stock sprocket. I used one from a cbr900. Chain lined up fine.
Re: Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
I did the same as Paul with mine, CBR900 520 sprocket and had it milled down to fit..

Re: Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
The sprocket is a Vortex 3273-15t and I can confirm would fit a 1992 CBR 900RR.
Looking forward to any help we can get!
Thank you,
Tony H.

You need to machine it so the nut fits,,, I think I got the outside ring machined off mine,

Re: Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
All my sprockets are Honda CBR 900. I have the back side milled to the proper thickness so lock washer fits. The side with the tooth count stays original, Always lines up and wear has been perfect.
Re: Sprockets – What to do? R6 Swing Arm Conversion - Pics
It appears to be very close fit, almost as if the sprocket would have to be... (Not sure of the language) Undercut? As if we would have to cup the milling to take some area out from the center underneath the teeth.
Does anyone have a picture, please? I know its a lot to ask.
Its not an panic either we have time.
Thank you,
Tony.
