Fork Tube - Stanchion
Is anyone who has tried these fork pipes, they are ok and fit directly ?
Is the price here OK ?

Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
Hi, yes I bought a pair and the fork kit as well, looks good quality. By the time I bought fork tubes
and getting hard chroming done was cheaper this way.
Cheers Ron.

Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
I also bought from these manufacturers for my RG250, no issues...as Ron says, works out cheaper without the wait.
Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
I think I might need some of these too. My forks are suffering from massive stiction. Push them down, they stay down. Pull them up and they stay up. The strange thing is it seems to be getting worse. Genuine Yamaha fork seals. I've tried more pre-load but it didn't help [emoji848].

Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
I think you have other problems, What condition are your stanchions in at the moment. It sounds like your bushings are shot or low on oil, Do you have the correct oil level and weight.Linx wrote:I think I might need some of these too. My forks are suffering from massive stiction. Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
Correct grade oil. Filled by amount rather than oil level. Pattern bushes fitted last year. I do wonder if it's the anti dive.

Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
How old are your lines? I know it sounds kinda weird but I have seen where the inner lining can break up or bulge and cause a restriction. The line will appear fine on the outside but cause a lot of problems. Just a thought?Linx wrote:Correct grade oil. Filled by amount rather than oil level. Pattern bushes fitted last year. Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
I would check that you have the correct spacers in the wheels, Make sure they are the correct ones from the get go, Someone might have lost a spacer and used a different one. That would put pressure on the forks if the axle tightened in on the forks, Also, Loosen the fork pinch bolts in the triples, loosen the front wheel, Bounce the bike up and down, Does it move freely with everything loose.
If it moves free, then you need to look at spacers, triple clamps etc,,,,
You say you fitted new pattern bushings, Did you have the problem before fitting these, Could be these are just crap and gripping the stanchions,
Also, did you refit the spacers on the tops of the springs.
Sorry, just throwing out shit that I would do to troubleshoot if the bike was here

Re: Fork Tube - Stanchion
Thanks for the tips guys. I wondered too if the fork legs were being pinched. Anyway, I stripped and rebuilt both forks last night. I fully expected to find the stanchions to be bent but both as straight as a die, which was actually a relief. I didn't actually find anything wrong but so much better now [emoji4][emoji106]. The last time I changed the fork oil I did it in the bike with it on a steering stem stand and the front wheel in. I think I had air locks in the forks due to not being able to pump the new oil around properly. Nice smooth action now and rebound to more or less the same position. I'm looking forward to a ride later [emoji14].
