Gear lever contacting side stand spring

#1 Post by Matty » Sun May 13, 2018 4:17 am

My gear lever is contacting the side stand spring on down shifts, not so much of a problem for the steel RZ lever, just annoying but I want to fit an aluminium RZV lever and this wont cope with the repeated contact. Is there a fix for this problem?

Adjust the gear lever higher maybe?

Unfortunately if I adjust the lever higher it will mean that I will have to lift my foot off the peg to change gear.

Maybe not if you use footpegs like this:

Half joking, but might give you an idea for a solution. Just ordered a pair of these pegs for a different bike, so they're on my mind.

Thanks for the input folks,
Tacky I don't think that they are bent but I'll check both of them.
I'll take some pics on the weekend and show what going on.

Turned out to be a combination of problems but the main one was the "new" RZV lever was bent (cheers Tacky1) but the clevis on the side stand is also worn and when the stand is up the spring pulls the stand outward, now fixed with a shim in the clevis to take up the free play.
Thanks again for the input.
