RZ500 Steering Stem to R6 Triple
Hi guys, just another post about swapping in an R6 front end. I've never done this before but from what I have read it's not terribly difficult to do so I'm going to give it a go. What's the worst that can happen right?? LOL. I've already pressed out the RZ stem and the R6 stem. The RZ stem was in there pretty good but after some heat it went. From my measurements I need to add 0.0114" to around 0.875' of the lower diameter on the stem(from "C" clip grove up). I laser welded the lower diameter with a modified P20 rod and am ready to turn it to size.

Big guy...if you look back in the threads, you will see the pic of the one I just did. I sketched it up if you want some of the critical sizes but mine was off an 06 R6
IMHO its better to make a new steering stem as opposed to getting the RZV's to fit the R6 lower TC.
If you make it out of the correct grade Ali, its lighter.
Plus you can come up with a nicer top nut - the chrome dome nut on the RZV stem is not that pretty when matched up to the R6 or your aftermarket top yoke.

Re: RZ500 Steering Stem to R6 Triple
Finally got around to turning my steering stem. Worked out well I think. Hope to put it all together this weekend.
Thanks again for the advice Steve!

Re: RZ500 Steering Stem to R6 Triple
Just an update on my painfully slow progress. I cut off the original steering stops and replaced them with 2 big blobs of weld about an inch tall as best I could figure where they needed to be. Then I got out the die grinder and shaped them in by hand. It was quite a bit of trial and error type work, took a couple of hours to tune in the stop positions but I'm happy with the results. Gave it a bead blast and clear coat to hide my sins.

Re: RZ500 Steering Stem to R6 Triple
I don’t know if you know, but there is a bearing kit for the R6 front end to fit the RZ/RD/RZV. that’s how I fit the R6 front end. No need to press stems etc.

Are you referring to the All Balls conversion chart? I have a question but I don't want to high jack this thread. I'll start a new one.
