Just confirming that the RZV and RZ/RD steering stems are the same.

You can compare the part numbers.

RZV:

I dug through my stash and I found an USD fork R6 triple tree. The light alloy R6 steering stem is the same length as the RZ500 stem, with enough extra width on the top to be turned down to match the shorter TZ250 steering stem I am trying to incorporate into the RZV chassis retro fit.

I removed mine from the steel frame and installed it with new bearings in the RZV frame. All bolted up fine.

Strange how the part number is slightly different - I'm not aware of any differences between the two though.

Cheers

-00 to -01 is usually a small change like coating or maybe other supplier?!
Don`t know the exact numbering rules of Yamaha.

One of the other Japanese OEM`s has the rule -00 => -01 = 100% compatible with all old counterparts, -00 => -10 = only compatible with modified counterparts (like different bolt pattern etc.).

Turns out what I thought was a stock R6 triple might be an after market unit.

Does this look anything like a stock R6 triple?

I have a stock and a Vortex upper clamp and that looks like neither. The lower looks stock. The stock upper is machined from a casting, obvious on the underside. You could machine out between the ribs and get that look but you would be able to tell.

Yeah, I was really only after the steering stem from this setup - it measures up to look long enough with enough material to be turned down to match the TZ upper and fit the RZ upper bearing.
