Mine changed a bit even just with paint, so be careful!
It looks nothing like the RZ frame any more

Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
The black looks much stiffer than the aluminium grey !
Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
Ya, it really chunks things up.
When having having a frame (skinny or fat one) powder coated is it necessary to remove all the anodizing before? Does every metal insert need to be removed?
Thanks guys

Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
I had my 3MA frame powder coated satin black, and just rubbed down the anodize a little where there were some marks. I did not remove any steel inserts. Turned out perfect.
Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
Nope, The coater they will plug them so the threads will not get coated.BigGuy wrote:Ya, it really chunks things up.

Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
As others stated, I did not remove the anodizing. I did spend considerable time sanding some of the pits and cleaning up flashing with a file and/or sandpaper.
Metal inserts were not removed. There were a couple of metal brackets that were removed. The steering stop one and if I recall somewhere around the rear brake mount area.

Re: Anodizing RZV Frame?
Thanks guys, that makes sense. I will try to contact some local powder coating shops to see what they have to say. I'm I will however have to some work on the R6 Swingarm Steve (BTW, he did a great job!) did for me. I'm thinking all the remaining original coating will have to be removed before it can be done to match the frame?
