Front Fork bushes success!!

#1 Post by hector1000s » Tue May 13, 2014 3:35 pm

Well as some of you may know the front fork bushes on the rd500 are not a seperate item from the stanchion additionally they are no longer available aswell!!
I posted on here months ago and was advised to try Wemoto.com as they stock quite a few bushes, after searching their website it appears that they do not stock the sizes needed for the rd500, so did a lot of searching on web and eventually found a company here in the UK called K-tech and ordered some bushes. Fitted them today and they are perfect fitment, so am a very happy bunny now!

Heres the part numbers for ya all

Top guide bushes are listed as Part no GBS-003 Showa 37mm guide bushes 37x12x2.00

Bottom sliders bushes are listed as Part No SBS-003 Showa 37mm guide bushes 37x 20

AND they only cost £26 odd inc delivery and took 2 days to arrive, excellent service!!

cheers Colin

Measured the K-Tech bushes yesterday.

Height: 19,7-19,75mm (K-Tech), 19,8-19,85mm (Yamaha) - the width of the pocket in the fork leg is 20mm.
Diameter with closed gap: difference smaller than diameter deviation around the part (+-0,1mm)
Thickness: 1mm (K-Tech), 0,9-0,95mm (Yamaha, old worn bushes)

Haven`t checked the diameter in mounted conditin at the moment, but from the measurements above there will not be much difference, only a slightly bigger diameter because of wear.

Result:
They are 99,9% the same but I think not from the original supplier (for Kayaba) because they are golden on the inner side and the Yamaha parts are black.
Maybe I can get some original Kayaba parts...
My bikes:
RD500 YPVS 1GE
RD350 YPVS 31K 1985
Honda CBR 1000 RR SC57
Yamaha R1 RN04

Sometimes I think life is too short to worry about 0.1mm!

I don`t worry about it, the message should be that they will work.
This difference is maybe smaller than the production tolerance of such parts.

But if I get the parts from the original supplier... why not?
