RZV500 decals

#1 Post by RZV500 » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:52 pm

Hello forum members,

I'm in the process of getting some RZV500 decals made. I have a good chain guard and screen decal that I am getting copied but my fork leg decal has virtually no writing left on it to copy. Does anybody have a good decal (the KYB decal fitted to the left hand fork leg). I will happily supply the donor with a new set of the decals for their trouble.

Also, I purchased an RZV KYB fork decal advertised by Reproduction decals, initially thinking that this was the decal I was after. However, the decal is a very small item with KYB written on it. Does anybody know where these items were fitted. None appear fitted to my bike (1984 RZV500)

Regards, Nick

Thanks for the reply Paul.

The small KYB decals in your photo are the ones that I bought from Reproduction Decals. There are no signs on my bike that these were ever fitted. Mine is an early 47X RZV, so maybe they were fitted to later bikes.

The decal I am trying to trace is fitted to the left hand fork leg just above the anti-dive unit. It measures about 3 inches length and 2 inches height. It appears to have a chrome-like background with black writing on it. I can make out KYB in the bottom right of the decal and a list of what looks like warning information (can see the words 'Do not...'). The decal appears fitted to the bike being worked on in the RZV 500 manual but I've not seen any fitted to RDs or RZs. Hopefully somebody will be able to provide one of these decals so that I can get some made up.

Thanks again, RZV500

My RZV has a decal like you describe on it, I'll try to get a photo of it this evening.

The photo is not great I'm afraid. A lot of the lettering has warn off on mine as well. It says

"Caution Air Suspension" at the top of the label then has a list of items in English and then repeated in Japanese I guess!

This is what I could read;

Caution Air Suspension
1. Containing highly compressed oil
2. Use only air or nitrogen gas
cause exposion
3.
4. Servicing requires special knowledge and tools
Read owners manual before operating
this suspension

I couldn't read line 3 at all, and I'm only 90% sure about the rest!

Hope it helps

Steve

Thanks Steve, that's the decal I'm talking about. Yours is a bit better than mine though. I'm hoping somebody has got one still intact somewhere?

Mine is pretty worn, I thought it was readable, but no. Has this progressed at all?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but has anyone found a route to getting the replacement fork decal as noted in this post?
