Rear rain tire

#1 Post by pstamper » Sat Nov 21, 2015 8:47 pm

Had to install a new chain to allow the larger tire to fit in 2006 R6 swingarm. 190/55 Pirelli rain had taller profile. Super gummy tire. High silica content also. Think I am at 116 links now. Have 3/4" space with plenty of adjustment left. Next weekend 60% chance of rain for track day. Wished it would of fit at Barber a few weeks ago.

60% to 90% rain chance Saturday and Sunday morn. The front worked well so more concerned with cooler weather. I am actually looking forward to it even with rain. Have a friend that is going to try the bike with the rain tires. I told him he needs to try the rains. He got his race license this year. Rides a GSXR 600.

Interesting - 190/55 is a lot of tyre. Is that a 6" wide wheel? I never liked running super big/wide tyres on the RC45, felt to much like rolling over curb when tipping in if not running the wide rear wheel. What front tyre size/profile you pairing it with?

The 190 is the only rain tire South Central Race carries. 180 was special order. It just has a lot of tread. It is on a 5.5 rim. I compared the profile of another 190 and a 180 that I had and it was almost identical. It had about 3/8 of an inch extra rubber on each side. I will take a profile of the rain out of curiosity. Have a 120 on the front. I was going to sell the rain to a friend and get the 180. I do not think I will be going very fast anyway in the rain nut who knows.
