Front of Engine Shock Mounting Question...

#1 Post by WVWRZ500N » Tue Sep 22, 2015 11:38 am

Hello Fellow Club Members and Future Club Members:

My questions is when mounting the shock reservoir to the lower head are you loosing the ability to install the rock guard on the belly pan? I'm working on the bracket to mount it now but really don't want to loose the ability to install the guard. Only pictures I've found on the web are without.

If anyone has pictures of their mounting/configuration that would be nice too.

Hey Bill,
this one seems to still have the guard:

I will get a picture up in a few. My holder is a bracket for a capacitor that goes in an AC unit. I bolted it to the stone guard

Paul,

How far back is the centerline of the reservoir from the head nut surface? About how far is the reservoir miss the bodywork?

My Solution for now. I have not checked clearance of the belly just going off of everyone else's mounts. I'm confident it'll clear though. I'm just hoping I can cover it up with the screen.

Is the line going to clear the chamber?

Paul,

For sure. The hose is tucked between the cylinders. The reservoir itself is moved more to the front than yours.

I have always been concerned with the heat from the head pipes on the line.
