Different kickstand on RZ(V)

#1 Post by kpke » Tue May 12, 2015 12:38 am

Probably a long shot...

Has anyone found a bolt on kickstand from another bike to fit on to the 500?

I have kickstand interference issues with my custom left rear set that I have mostly worked out, but I am interested in finding something that will bolt on to the existing bracket that attaches to the frame. My boot hits the kickstand. I have put a spacer between the kickstand and the contact area on the bracket to limit the travel when up, but it is looking dorky the more i push it down.

There are aftermarket adjustable kickstands but I don't know where to start. I.e., will a 20xx R6 or GXSR or??? kickstand fit up to this bike?

Thanks

Ducati 1098 stand maybe? 2010 or so. The mounts are similar. You can remove the stand from the Duc mount and put in on the RZ mount. I have one on my RZ350.

Thanks SS.

I have a friend with a bunch of Ducatis. I will go by his house and go shopping.

Come to think of it, he has about 30 bikes so maybe I can find something compatible over there.

Anybody else?

Here it is installed on one of my 350s. The Duc mount was removed. Best to use the Duc spring and spring tab.

Hey Guys,
My stock kickstand doesn't work on my RZV with my rearsets so I decided today I was going to figure something out. Well it just so happens that I had a 91 ZX7 complete kickstand sitting around so I thought why not see if I can make this one work. Well guess what. It worked bitchen. I used the lower bolt for the stock kickstand with the lower bolt on the ZX7 mount. Then I drilled and tapped the frame, made a spacer and bolted up the top mount bolt. Low and behold the kickstand folded up nicely to the inside of the shifter and footpeg. It folds down nice with a little forward lean and is the perfect height for my set up. So there it is. Another option for us. L8R Mark

So one thing I have to ask about... it's clearly an RZV, but it's a 47X swing arm bolt. I thought that didn't work (and I even checked a 47X swing arm bolt in my RZV frame to check). Did you add spacers on the other end of the bolt?

Thanks,
jason

Jason,
The bike came with the swing arm and bolt as is. So what your saying is that the RZV bolt is shorter than the RZ bolt correct? There's no spacers and the bolt isn't too long, but look's like it may have been cut down and threaded by the guys who modified the swingarm to fit because the end is rusty. Weird that it has the incorrect bolt.

So I did some more measurements on the 47X swing arm bolt in the RZV frame. The 47X bolt is gun drilled one size from the head, and smaller at the threaded end. If the former owner just turned down the bolt and threaded it further then they may also have made the walls much thinner at the edge of the bolt and the nut. You might want to take some measurements.
