Frame adhesive residue

#1 Post by Marty » Sat Mar 28, 2015 2:00 pm

Hi Guys
I pressume that there was a frame sticker on the down tubes as shown in the picture. This has gone long since but the residue of the adhesive is still on the frame.
2 questions really, what would be the best thing to remove the adhesive (brake cleaner doesn't touch it) and is the frame coated or is it just the ally frame? Obviously I don't want to damage any paint on the frame if at all possible.

Thanks

Marty

Marty I just removed the same stuff from my TZR frame (pic below). It's applied when the bikes are new to protect them during assembly and transport. My 2MA frame was covered in it. I used hair dryer (on high) to heat it and then slowly peeled it off. Then I used acetone to clean up the mess left behind. It was very easy to do and didn't harm the frame. I used a hair dryer rather than a heat gun just to be safe.

Looking good John.

The aluminum frame has bright silver annodising on it to stop corrosion.
So does the swingarm, peg mounts, triples etc.
