PIRELLI TIRE PRESSURE TESTING

#1 Post by pstamper » Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:28 pm

Messing with bike set up before next month. Have Pirelli Pro Comp Slicks 180/55 rear 5.5 inch rim and 120/70 front 3.5 rim. Did some tire pressure and temperature tests. Pulled all air out of tires and actually into a vacuum. Filled with nitrogen to recommended cold setting of 27 rear and 31 front. Do not like my compressor due to the amount of moisture in the air. Temperature was 69 in shop as was tire temp. Installed Woodcraft tire warmers and on low after 1 hour temperature went to 138 rear at 31 PSI and 128 front at 35 PSI. Set warmers to high after hour was 170 rear at 33.5 PSI and 162 front at 37 PSI. On high setting the rims were getting heat soaked also. Will be nice to have a good base to work from.

It was a dreary day and had nothing to do. Was interesting to see the difference. I can never keep the tires at 170. I come off the track at COTA at 155 or so. Will push it a little harder this year since I know the track better and also a little fitter. Will be 2 years on Monday since the broken pelvis. Did you get the email about the LC that sold for that huge price?

yes mate thanks ,that was crazy $$$.
as to the fitness/stamina thing its a curve thing really,
big improvement at the start ,but a little training and physio goes a long way.
you should enjoy this years track time even more i suspect ,
but the better you get the more critical you become , so try and retain the fun aspect as much as possible.
cheers mark
