Pirelli Pro Slick track Day update

#1 Post by pstamper » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:00 pm

Finally tried the new tires. They stuck like glue and I still had more tire left for cornering but I was the weak link. Rick had my shock rebuilt and it worked great as seen in tire wear patterns. Was a little timid at the track due to incident a few years ago and heat. Was really hot and tire, suspension, and engine all performed flawless. Plugs were burning a dark tan color. Me on the other hand kept it safe due to the heat. Will post video Sunday if I can get it uploaded. Again, if you see this Rick, thanks for the quick turnaround on the shock and as always for a great engine. I heard Ohlin had a somewhat similar problem on their shock, but theirs was the internal bottom out rubber broke down plugging up the rebound orifice. Suggestion on which section to post video. Here or miscellaneous section? Well video done. Noticed I need a little editing.

Hope it is enjoyable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9DS7-epMIo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Video looks good.

When is the last track day at Texas World before they tear it up to build houses?

Well, the district and the city already approved the proposal for development and are laying the ground work for the bond issues etc. so I think from the developers point of view its a done deal - 600+ houses plus amenities on 600 acre development - sounds like 20 other similar projects underway in our area.

I was hearing ground breaking on phase 1 could be as soon as March 2015 if they get the backing, which would put TWS on life support as we speak.

Sad state of affairs really.

One of the instructors i talked with seemed to think at least 4 year before actuall shtdown of the track. The main building or grandstand is collapsing. The glass has broken out in portions of it. The track is in rough shape but you can still go fast. The tar patch they put down should be ground off. You really need faith in your tires as your bike moves a few inches as you go over them. I was told not to worry about them
