RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
Looking for a RZV swing arm pivot bolt or custom bolt supplier. Seems the RZV bolt is quite a bit shorter than the RZ.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
If anyone could post the above RZV bolt dimensions, I could inquire about machining new ones.
I also need a set for my RZV frame. Would be cool to get them made out of titanium, if the cost isn't to crazy.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
hi,
The longer RZ axle is also machined larger and stepped down inside just before the thread starts.
If you use the RZ and cut it down and rethread it you will be using thinner material, Japan has lots of RZV axles.
Good luck

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
Rick Lance had his new swingarm pivot hardware awhile ago.

Not sure how many are left tho.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
AXLE ? Different Diameter? Just for clarity I think we are talking swing arm pivot bolt unless you call it a swingarm "axle" bolt which I am not familiar with. I was going to try and modify my RZ swingarm pivot bolt for my RZV by turning the end diameter down a bit on my lathe and lengthening the threads if it's not too hard and I can't simply shim it. That may not look right as it is at least 1/2" longer. My eyes tell me both bolt diameters are the same and the RZ nut is a smaller diameter thread than the RZV nut. Can anyone confirm the swing arm pivot bolt diameter is the same for both RZ and RZV. I have a RZV shock linkage pivot bolt from Lance, very nice.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
I went thru this . Manitoba mike is talking about the swingarm pivot bolt.
The rz500 bolt- On the hollow inside of the bolt, its a thicker wall where the threads are, thinner wall where they are not.
So if you cut more threads onto the thinner wall area of the bolt, Strength will be lost.
Yes the Diameter of both bolts is the same. The diameter is only different at the nut/threads.
I decided in the end to source the correct bolt out of japan.
But making a new titanium one from scratch would be nice too!

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
Looking for an RZV swingarm pivot bolt, but don't want to pay a lot since I won't be using it.
Just want to copy the dimensions.
Don't see any for sale after a quick search.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
I find the terminology a bit confusing. Sounds like the RZ bolt's internal bore steps down before the threads begin. The RZ bolt has 2 bore diameters then. Is there enough length to simply shorten the bolt and cut a thread the size of the larger diameter RZV nut? What is the difference in the length of the 2 bolts? If there is room, this would not reduce strength.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
I wanted to do exactly what you are saying. But the unthreaded area is too thin-walled. After you thread it there will be almost no wall left.ns86 wrote:I find the terminology a bit confusing. There is an old post with the measurements of the 2 bolts. I will try to find it.
Ok here is one:

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
I was referring to the larger diameter nut from the RZV. If there is enough length, shouldn't there be plenty of material to cut these larger diameter threads the same as the RZV bolt?

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
I decided it was too thin to thread at all and decided to get the correct bolt instead.ns86 wrote:I was referring to the larger diameter nut from the RZV. If there is enough length, shouldn't there be plenty of material to cut these larger diameter threads the same as the RZV bolt?
I like smokers idea of a new titanium one. Or just buy the correct one!

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
must have been the pre game warmup beers kicking in!! ( stanley cup eh ).
Your right it isn't the axle bolt but the swingarm pivot bolt i was talking about.
Also thought i would confuse things with the shock pivot bolt that's also hard to deal with right after you figure the swingarm bolt problem out.
sorry about that.

Re: RZV Swingrm Pivot Bolt
Hello guys,
I too have a RZV frame lying around that I plan to use. I understand that the swingarm pivot bolt is different, but also the shock fastening bolt? Can these bots still be had - and which other parts are needed for the conversion? I do not need the brake and gear arms. Anything else?
Thanks.
