Circuit Of The Americas track days

#1 Post by pstamper » Mon Jun 23, 2014 9:35 pm

Just back from two track days at COTA. Missed it last year due to broken pelvis. Kudos Rick. Back straight tested your engine to the max. Big boys were surprised. Let me Know how I treated your engines after I post the videos. Took both RZs and neither missed a beat. Had a bunch of people come up and compliment on the bikes. Not just to see them but to hear them on the track. Even had some people that use to race them come up and talk. I will get some pictures up soon and videos. Have one vid of the nice RZ and two of the RZ6 mod of the front suspension working and of the front brake and throttle action. Rear shock rebound was bad on R6 mod bike so only road it 3 sessions. It still did awesome with the new slicks. The track is absolutely fantastic as well as the facilities. Just what you would expect from an F1 circuit. get videos up soon and more pics.

My good friend Carl came in from Denver to help. If you need Porche info he is the man. Makes some neat stuff for the 356s. Could not of done it without his help. He and his wife were headed for a wedding in New York after this.

Some pics from track day. Get the videos up this weekend and hope to have on track pictures also. Can not say it enough how great the staff was at COTA.

some graining. off warmers 175 degrees and came back at 155. was breezy and shady all day. did not push it very hard due to rebound issue with back shock . pirelli pro comps running at 33 front and 27 rear off warmers

pit entry and front straight with a beautiful Texas sunset

front straight up to turn 1. unbelievable how late you could break up the hill. goes in wide but exit out is tight and falls off to a fast downhill right. i could out break most any of the big bikes coming to turn

Carl talking to one of the instructors in front of the pit garages that could be rented with private restrooms

bikes just unloaded on Friday nite. I was so cautious with the nice one. Partially due to the 4 year old Michelins

Carl and I on pit road after we unloaded. I was trying to stay loose with the bike all weekend. This was the one year anniversary of starting to walk after my pelvis injury. My thigh muscles are still hurting today after two track days and 12 sessions

BMW team doing testing with their 202 horsepower monster. Great guys. The factory engineers were even helping other riders that brought there own BMWs to the track. Helping on engine management and set up. There was a $68,000 Ducati running in level 3 with them that was incredible. one of 300 they said.

our home for weekend in Austin. Carl enjoying a cold beverage. i was being good sticking with water.
