Radiator Grommets / Spacers

#1 Post by steveho » Tue Oct 30, 2018 6:27 pm

Apologies in advance, as I seem to be asking ever increasingly simple questions....

It seems that Yamaha have specified different rubber grommets and associated spacers on the RH & LH sides of the radiator. I have both of these and the RH & LH are of different thicknesses. Can nobody advise which side is which, i.e. thick or thin? I can’t think it really matters, but just want this rebuild to be 100%.
Thanks again, in advance. :smile:

Pics here that might help. Look at the grommets and the corresponding collars for size. https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-rd500lc-19 ... 9jfCPZFyUn" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

90480-18276 is the 9mm high variant used on the right side of the radiator.
Also used for mounting the taillight from where I used it for drawing it in 3D.

Second variant is not in my database up to now.

There is always a reason why Japanese OEM`s are not using the same part on both sides.
My bikes:
RD500 YPVS 1GE
RD350 YPVS 31K 1985
Honda CBR 1000 RR SC57
Yamaha R1 RN04

Thanks Silverstrom & Speed Freak.
I was trying to make sense of the Yamaha part numbering system for sizing of grommets & collars, but to no avail. It seems not as straightforward as for typical screws/bolts.

90480-18276 & the 'crucial' 9mm tell me what side is which. Thanks for that. Cheers.
