Pistons...what are the options

#1 Post by busa1300 » Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:39 pm

I have come to the conclusion I will need new pistons.
The factory no longer makes front AND back pistons...
I want to use the window pistons, so I am only aware of Mitaka that makes both front/rear versions.
Are there other options....Vertex/Wiseco/Wossner...?
Are Mitaka as good as factory quality?

I was supplied Aoki racing pistons from PJME in the UK.

Don't know what they worth, as the engine hasn't started yet.
However I can say they did fit very nicely. Packaging is serious. Machining and casting seems of good quality.

I emailed PJME, and asked who made their pistons that they sell, and they said they were Mitaka cast pistons....
Is that the same as Aoki...? The picture they show of the Mitaka looks the same as the pic of the pistons with the blackout areas above.

There was no name on the packaging, so I asked a Japanese colleague to translate the japanese writings.
He told me it is written Aoki racing...

But maybe thats what is usually called Mitaka ..! :smt005
This is the stuff from PJME, must be Mitaka then.
