Re: Was Crank timing now Engine Rebuild Progress
Hi,
As a result of the generosity of Jackson.40 the clutch is now fully assembled and I have the bottom end rebuild complete.

actually have pitons/ cylinders fitted now. All ready for PV linkages and the heads and then it's back into the bike with her!

Nice work.
Since you did most/all (?) of the work yourself, what did the rebuild cost in terms of real cash?
Thanks

Looking good Brian
Re: Was Crank timing now Engine Rebuild Progress
So, just when I thought I'm almost there up pops another little issue to keep me occupied. So engine in and connected up all the wiring and turn on ignition toncheck power valve servo set up and guess what nothing, just nothing. Was working fine before the strip down. Have looked through manual re checking the various components involved(i..e. Servi, power valve controller, YPVS fuse, CDI) but haven't got round to checking any of them yet. Any suggestions on the most
Likely culprit?

Culprit for me in the past was either a loose or wrong connected wire or battery to weak.bogey wrote:So, just when I thought I'm almost there up pops another little issue to keep me occupied. I've had the same problem. Without a fully charged battery they often won't move.
Re: Was Crank timing now Engine Rebuild Progress
OK, back on track now after a few hicups. Problem with YPVS was a blown fuse, don't no why it was blown but replaced it, adjusted puwervslves snd all seems working fine. Had all the two stroke empty out on the floor as well, completely down to me, messy but sorted now, so it's back to list of outstanding items. Thought I would be finished during hols but looks like it will be the weekend now before first fire up.
Left to do;
Adjust Lube Oil Pump
Pipes On
Sprocket cover on
Fit carbs and airbox
Fitt throtlle/choke cables and adjust
Rad on
Fill and vent coolant system
Fill with Tranny oil
Set up temporary fuel Supply
Final check over and count the kicks!
