Crankshaft assemblies

Re: Crankshaft assemblies
On a stock stroke the rod is below the web there is no way it could hit the case, now the stroker crank needed a trenching to work, a lot of work
Re: Crankshaft assemblies
Will also be interrested in 1 set of cranks.

Mine are about 5 years old, stored indoors and constant 70f room temp. and humidity controlled. Seal kits are vacuum packed so should last longer than OEM in a plastic bag. Perfect condition, I JUST LOOKEDThese cranks if stored in original plastic/foam/cardboard should have a decent shelf life right?

Re: Crankshaft assemblies
I heard that the "Gus" rods are not the same dimensions as the stock rods... they are approx 2.5mm bigger at the top of the big end... on the beam. hence they can kiss the case on the up stroke near the base of the cylinder

Thanks, Frank
Just get you existing cranks rebuilt for half the price.
Re: Crankshaft assemblies
My tooling was made from an oem rod, the long rod crank has a banshee rod those are 10 mil longer and bigger, yep

Not sure anyone in the US is rebuilding 500 cranks for $250 each.begbie wrote:AHAMAYfrank wrote:Being the new guy here, I don't know how this works. Re: Crankshaft assemblies
I was wondering the same. It seems like just the parts would be at or near that, then add the rebuild service, The new assemblies seem to be priced well to me.RC45 wrote:Not sure anyone in the US is rebuilding 500 cranks for $250 each.begbie wrote:AHAMAYfrank wrote:Being the new guy here, I don't know how this works. Re: Crankshaft assemblies
giron I have a empty case set , just need new cranks then I can check it out . as I wanted to buy one new crank set for spare engine.giron wrote:I heard that the "Gus" rods are not the same dimensions as the stock rods... they are approx 2.5mm bigger at the top of the big end... on the beam. hence they can kiss the case on the up stroke near the base of the cylinder
Re: Crankshaft assemblies
The 2.5 mm bigger base is not a stock crank, it is a stock stroke but has a 110 rod, I still have some, all the new ones are the same as OEM there are 180 sets out there and your the first one to say that what does the rod no. say ? I'll bet it's 29L it's not a 47X
Re: Crankshaft assemblies
I remember that post. I think it was about a crank rebuilt with early yamabits Rods.
And they corrected it at Yambits. I will search for the post.
Never heard of any problems with Gus`s cranks.

Would not be a big problem, I will measure and draw the old conrod in CAD and then i can cut the outer shape out of cardboard.
If the new conrods go through they are ok, if not I will grind or machine it down to fit.
Do you know if all the conrods which are available are coming from one supplier?
"Mitaka" only with a sample picture:

Yambits:

Another one which looks the same as the Yambits but more expensive:

And here another one:

If they are all the same I would take the cheapest

Re: Crankshaft assemblies
those do not look like my rod kits, the one post says banshee and rd500 take the same rod kit, yikes
