RZV500R carburetor setting

#1 Post by william2rcc » Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:45 am

Dear mate, I have just bought an import RZV500R, check the carburetor setting today, the main air jet was sealed, pilot air jet 1.1, main jet 120, pilot jet 22.5, needle jet standard 5LT14-3, have equip a tune pipe, don’t know what manufactory made.

My location, Asia, sea level, ambience 30C now.

Please suggest carburetor settings? Thank you!

Nice Bike!

The RZV500R was restricted from the factory I believe. I forget what the restriction was though. I have heard of people derestricting RZV's and using standard RZ or RD carb jets. Especially the needle jet.

The tuned pipe makes me think your mains are a little lean.

Is the stock airbox intact? If so, I would run a 170 main jet. 120's are decidedly too lean. Needle in #3 clip position. Your pilot should be OK.
If I disagree with everyone, that doesn't make me right. If I take the side of only one, it doesn't end the fight. If my position's strong enough from exposure to the light, you may see things my way when we share the same highway.

Yes, use the stock airbox.
