Plugs

#1 Post by silverstrom » Wed Jan 11, 2017 2:30 am

I've just ordered 2 sets of crank seals from my local shop. The plugs for the balancer and rear crank are NLA. Does anyone know a source for new plugs?

I have some used plugs here in my spares and will reuse if required. When reusing them, do you apply a bit of crankcase sealant to the perimeter of the plugs, just to ensure they never leak?

I ask because I have 2 engines to build from empty cases.

I reused the plugs on 5 different 500 engines John and never had a problem. I would check and make sure there was no damage to the lips on the side. I did seal mine with the same sealant I used to seal the crank cases. I use 3 bond 1211

John,

Put a bit of sealer on the oil seal surface as well as the flats when you're resealing the case halves.
