Engine rebuild

#1 Post by Jarrettvp » Thu Dec 22, 2016 4:32 am

Got an early Christmas present this week from Firefox Racing. They rebuilt my RZ500 engine with complete re-bore, new pistons, rings, clutch and refurb of all casings etc. It looks the business and can't wait to get the rest of the bike finished to start assembly again :shock:

Very curious what the cost was for your rebuild.

If you're not comfortable posting the amount, perhaps you could pm me.

I'm in the states, so I won't be able to use that builder.

Looks very clean! :smt023

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes new reed valves fitted and pretty much now a brand new engine. The guys at Firefox Racing in Leeds, North Yorkshire did it for me (£2,600). They are a really good bunch of guys and the time spent on the engine shows in the quality of workmanship. http://firefoxracing.co.uk/engine-servicing/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That price seems very reasonable - even in the Empires money :)

And the engine looks great!

If anyone is wanting any work done at Firefox Racing in Keighley, Leeds, ask for Mick. Cut his arm off and his veins are configured with a fine blend of 2-stroke fuel/oil mixture. There is nothing he doesn't know about 2-stroke engines, especially, 350LC and RD500's. He is a really nice guy as well. http://firefoxracing.co.uk/engine-servicing/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
