Carb heat shields

#1 Post by dave55 » Thu Dec 08, 2016 7:38 am

Hi

Going to tinker in the shed over winter and fit a pair of carb heat shields i won on auction.
Is it a fiddly job, and or do i even need them, run this year without them and did not seem to get
any more problems then usual
Tips or hints welcome

I don't think it's fiddly, i have no problems at all installing them. Clamps must be free, a little 2 stroke oil on the intake rubbers: Et voila!

Take careful note of the exact routing of the fuel pipes or the shields can be difficult to push back into place - especially the left one - if they do prove difficult check that you're not trapping a fuel line - You can clamp the fuel lines near the tank rather than having to drain the tank - memory says the right side fuel pipe goes through the shield the left one goes over the shield through a notch - could be wrong - I've done this job 20 times in the life of the bike so it must be old age stopping me remembering !

Other than the above it's quite an easy task.

Have fun !

Cheers
Paul

Cheers Guys

Tanks empty so should make this easier, i will see if there's a pipe run diagram in the manual.

Merry Christmas
