i wonder how a titanium sleeve would work.
great wear/corrosion/light weight and heat stability quality's.
cost would be not inconsiderable but if we are dreaming ,why not dream big.!.
She might not be pretty but always a fun ride !!

This is true... on the way we may as well have custom cases cast as well LOL

As we discussed recently, when does a replica stop being a replica? Time to find a frame and swingarm and swing for the fences.

I have feelers out for 1985/6 frame and swingarm, but chances are pretty slim.

And to be honest, seeing that each race resulted in a unique bike due to setup and changing sponsors and suppliers (eg Nissin, Brembo and AP brakes), and mid season frame swing-arm mods, material changes (magnesium and Ti for some parts)wheel size changes etc. Unless one gets a chance to buy a bike that was literally pulled off the track and given up - see the bikes that Kenny, Wayne, Freddie and a few other champions received - ALL the rest where just clones reassembled from available spare parts long after their heyday and are really just representative of the bike they where back in the day, they are not the actual bike.

So for me the only real difference between a replica and a clone is the frame/swing-arm and possibly engine cases.

Until I source a frame/swing-arm I will always be in the replica camp... but just in case a frame comes up I want to be ready with all the parts to jump over into the clone camp :)

Are there other options? Harris, for example? Not that this route is any easier.

The Harris and ROC bikes are probably more accessible, but they are from the 1990's era. I really like the mid '80's stuff a lot more.
