Transmission oil loss??
Just noticed transmission oil "completely vanished" on my freshly rebuilt engine probably only done 1/2 mile and 10 minutes at tickover any ideas??
Re: Transmission oil loss??
Did you check the oil in the sight glass when the bike was on the side stand?
Stand the bike up vertically and wait a minute or two then check the level in the sight glass.

I'm not a complete idiot...some parts are missing.

Hi Matty
Yes, the bike is kept on a paddock stand in a vertical position but with the assistance of my brother the bike has also been lent over at various angle to see if there is a difference which there isn't....any more suggestions would be welcome.

you need to keep it off the stand and level vertical and horizontal, warm it up for a couple minutes turn it off and let it settle.

Re: Transmission oil loss??
Was the bike overly smoky?
Re: Transmission oil loss??
I know that my bike shows no oil in the sight glass.
But there is oil showing when engine is running.
I did an oil change and waited two days after running the engine and still no level.

Re: Transmission oil loss??
Was the bike leaning 2 days on the side stand?
It`s possible that there is just a small hole between gearbox and clutch cover and the oil needs some minutes to come thru this hole.
I can check that on my disassembled engine at home.
Never check oil while the engine is running. The oil will splash around everywhere.
Possible that it shows oil in the glass, but just because something in the engine is throwing oil into the corner of the sight glass
I have not much experience with the RD500 as i have drained all fluids out of my bike after 30km test ride...
Hopefully i can fill it at the end of 2016 with new fluids
