modified or custom 2 stroke oil tanks

#1 Post by 2smoke » Fri Apr 18, 2014 9:35 pm

Hi all. I Put a USD fork front end on my rz500.
That leaves no room for the factory oil tank.
So I heated it up and pushed it in for clearance like others have done. Now its leaking. :smt013
So have others used custom tanks or tanks from other bikes to get around this problem?
I have seen pictures of an underseat oil tank but it hasn't been available for a long time.
I might have to have something made.

RZV Steve will probably make you an under seat oil tank. (That's where they came from originally.)

Let me know if you want to see some pics.

Hi,
I'm using premix now with the usd conversion. I have a brand new RGVSteve oiltank ( same as in your photo ) but had some interference problems.
PM me if you like, its still a sandy spring here so i'll be in the forum reading about riding until i can get out.
Happy trails

In a pinch you can use JB weld plastic putty, that's what I did on mine as I had no intentions of using the aftermarket tank. Works fine, is oil and gas resistant and doesn't leak at all.
